Spiced Apple Cake
Warm, moist, and bursting with cozy spices and fresh apples, this homemade spiced apple cake is an easy-to-make treat perfect for any time of year. Drizzle it with salted caramel sauce or top with whipped cream or ice cream for an irresistible dessert.

Ingredients
Wet Ingredients:
4 large Granny Smith apples, cored and chopped (peeling left on)
1 stick butter, softened
½ cup walnut or almond oil
2 large eggs
2–3 teaspoons Frontier Organic Pumpkin Pie Spice
2 tablespoons (or more) Red Apple or Cinnamon Pear Balsamic
1 cup sugar (coconut sugar, sucanat, or rapadura recommended)
½ cup maple syrup
Dry Ingredients:
2 cups flour (organic whole wheat recommended)
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon sea salt
Additional Ingredients (optional):
1 cup golden raisins
1 cup walnuts
1 jar Sutter Buttes salted caramel sauce
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
Combine wet ingredients in a food processor or mixing bowl until smooth.
In a separate bowl, whisk together dry ingredients.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently fold together until just combined. Fold in raisins and walnuts if using. Be careful not to overmix to avoid toughness.
Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 40–50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Microwave the salted caramel sauce for 15 seconds and drizzle over the slightly cooled cake.
Serve plain or with whipped cream or ice cream. Enjoy!
