Wonderful Mashed Sweet Potatoes

Creamy, sweet, and perfectly spiced mashed sweet potatoes made with butter, maple syrup, cinnamon, and a touch of brown sugar. A comforting side dish ideal for any cozy meal.

Ingredients

  • 5 lbs peeled and cubed sweet potatoes

  • Salt to taste

  • ½ tsp black pepper (or to taste)

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • ¾ cup salted butter, plus more for serving

  • ¼ cup maple syrup

  • ¼ cup light brown sugar

  • ¾ cup half and half or heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Place sweet potatoes in a large pot with salted water. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook until tender.

  2. Drain and return potatoes to the pot.

  3. Add butter, half and half, brown sugar, maple syrup, and cinnamon. Mash over low heat until well combined.

  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve warm with extra butter if desired.

Serves 6–8.
